The Griesser Climate Vision:
From abstract concept to concrete goals.
The Griesser story has been hallmarked by innovation and a pioneering spirit since our company’s foundation back in 1882.
As a family firm, we want to use our financial resources to make our business and industry more sustainable and more human, too. We need to keep growing if we are to survive. But we do not wish to grow at any price, or at the cost of our shared environment. So organic growth that is in harmony with nature and humanity is our motivation and our goal.
Climate change sets our company one of the greatest challenges of our times. The Paris Agreement, which was concluded at the UN Climate Change Conference in 2015, calls on the world to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and to limit global warming to 1.5°C. As an employer, Griesser is fully aware of its responsibilities here. And as a pioneer, we strive to lead the way.
At Griesser, protecting the climate is not a duty. It’s an opportunity to play our part in creating and maintaining a more sustainable world – by developing innovative products, by making targeted investments in sustainable building refurbishments, and by bringing e-mobility to our vehicle fleet. And doing so is our mission.
Our climate goals
A vision can only become reality if it is evolved into a mission with clearly defined goals. This is what we did at Griesser in 2020, with the help of our partner myclimate, the international climate protection organization with strong Swiss roots. By means of a workshop, we firmly defined how we, as a company, could help achieve the objectives enshrined in the Paris Agreement. And in doing so, we conducted particular analyses of the following aspects of our company, asking ourselves in each case what we could contribute to protecting our climate and coming up with the concrete answers below:
