Sustainability Days for our employees

Our fourth in-house Sustainability Days were met with keen interest among our company workforce. The annual event is organized by our Griesser Sustainability Community. And this year’s version saw a special focus placed on the theme of ‘Resources’.

“Sustainability is a very complex and a very extensive field,” explains Jolanda Bruhin, Co-Coordinator of the Griesser Sustainability Community. “So we always concentrate on a particular aspect with our sustainability events, breaking it down into various subtopics. This approach not only reduces complexity but also shows our employees that sustainability can be viewed and addressed from different perspectives.”

The focus topic of this year’s Griesser Sustainability Days – ‘Resources’ – was subdivided into ‘Personal Resources’, ‘Environmental Resources’ and ‘Resources at Griesser’ for the purposes of the event:

  • Personal Resources
On the ‘personal resources’ front, the event’s attendees were offered insightful presentations on healthy sleep along with insights into our Online Doctor 365.Griesser attaches great value to its employees’ mental health, too, as is underlined by the launch of a new in-house health series on the issue inspired by the ‘Forum für psychische Gesundheit’ and the ‘Forum für betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement’ organizations of Eastern Switzerland. Listening is one thing; acting is another. So the event also included a challenge to attendees to form small groups and see how much progress they could make together in a month on the various issues presented.
  • Environmental resources
Carbon emissions, avoidable waste, climate levies and global warming are just a few of the topics the media return to time and again on the sustainability front. But what exactly are they all about? What do they mean for each of us personally, and how can we individually make a constructive contribution?

Our employees were offered a series of videos and articles to acquaint them more fully with these issues and more. They learnt, too, what Griesser is doing in these various areas – such as regularly considering how it can use more sustainable construction materials, like the recently adopted green aluminum.
  • Resources at Griesser
Griesser aims to be entirely climate-neutral by 2050 – not least by sensitizing all its employees to all the many issues and factors involved. For this part of its 2024 Sustainability Days, attendees were offered insights into the Griesser Climate Vision, and were invited to learn and discuss exactly how the company is reducing its carbon dioxide emissions and minimizing waste.

“We are encouraged by the strong interest our employees have shown in our sustainability initiatives,” concludes Philipp Boss, Head of HSE & Sustainability and Co-Coordinator of the Griesser Sustainability Community. “With this enthusiasm, commitment, and our many sustainability initiatives, I’m confident we’ll achieve our corporate climate objectives.
