Our Sustainability Community: Working together for a more sustainable world.
The Griesser Sustainability Community is a group of our employees who have teamed up – entirely voluntarily – to steadily further develop our sustainability both brand- and companywide. The Community occupies itself with the latest issues and concerns in the climate protection field. And, in doing so, they help us all on our Griesser journey towards net zero by 2050.
From idea to implementation
Why not tap into the ideas of the crowd? At Griesser we’re convinced that we can only effectively protect our climate and achieve our objective of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 if we all pull together. That’s why we set up our Sustainability Community in April 2022. Thirteen employees from our country organizations in Switzerland, Austria and France stepped forward to join. And they now meet up online on a fixed day every two weeks to pursue a range of sustainability projects.
The proposals for the projects come from all of Griesser’s employees, who are encouraged time and again to submit suggestions for improvement or simple input and ideas – during Health Weeks or the Sustainability Days, or via email at any time. Seventy such ideas were submitted in the course of 2022. The Sustainability Community sorted them by company division and prioritized them, too. And small working groups of two to four persons then tackled the top five topics raised:
- Upcycling: working with the attached.ch company, which makes bags out of our awning fabric remnants
- Optimizing waste disposal options at the Aadorf site
- Eliminating plastic items (cups, containers, tableware, cutlery and similar) from the staff restaurant and break rooms, and replacing these with reusable or biodegradable alternatives
- Optimizing printing processes by pre-programming standard printer settings (black-and-white and double-sided)
- Developing a second market in used system control motors.
Diverse and strong
The Griesser Sustainability Community numbers specialists in all areas of our business and operations, and is well able to tackle sustainability projects that extend beyond unit, divisional and even national borders. Together we are strong; and together we can make small changes that make a big difference, and can live up in full to the responsibilities we bear.
